5 Ways to Avoid Wedding Planning Stress

5-ways-to-avoid-Wedding-Planning-Stress1

Your wedding day is going to be one of the most exciting days of your life. But, the journey towards making it as perfect as you want can sometimes be more stressful than exciting. The good news is that there are ways to make your wedding planning less stressful. Here are 5 best ways to avoid wedding planning stress:

1. Set Deadlines and Break Up Your Biggest Tasks

Your wedding to-do list will be easier to manage and a lot less intimidating if you break it up into smaller sections. Let’s say you plan to send out all your invitations in one weekend. Instead, you can send out a few invitations daily. Or instead of planning all your honeymoon activities in one day, you look at doing this within a week. If you can set realistic deadlines for every task and stick to them, you’ll see how easy it is to tick them off your list.

2. Communicate and Get Everyone on the Same Page

Have open communication with everyone involved in your wedding. Are your parents contributing to your wedding budget? Sit down with them to discuss what can be compromised or what might have to take the backbench. Don’t leave out your fiancé as well. Be sure to set up a regular time  and go over what’s working and what’s not. Also, be clear on the details of your budget with your vendors so you won’t have to go through the trouble of slashing things that are off-budget later.

3. Ask for and Accept Help

We’ll never tell you to allow anyone to take over your wedding. But when [and if] you need help, getting others to help will be a good de-stressor for you. And if you discover that you’ll need a lot of help, hiring a wedding planner is a great way to keep things organized.  Get your family and friends involved in the aspects of your wedding where you’ll be needing their skills.

Life is often best lived together in community. You’ll get to enjoy many get-togethers with them and have fun during the wedding planning.

4. Take Some Time Off

When you’re beginning to get overwhelmed from being too focused on the details, it’s time to take a break. You can hit the gym, visit the spa, or take a relaxing bath to de-stress. Also, spend some time with your fiance. It’s easy to get so lost in all the wedding planning and get disconnected from the person that matters the most throughout this process. Go on romantic dates or hang-outs without talking about anything ‘wedding planning’ related. At least not for that day, evening, or weekend.

5. Maintain a Healthy Mindset

Don’t [or allow anyone else to] set any high standards or levels of perfection for you, your fiancé, and your wedding. You’re better off not pitting your wedding against the ‘perfect’ one you saw on Instagram or that one you attended a few months back. Even if there’s a high statistic on wedding planning stress out there, you can still enjoy the journey to your big day.  It starts with your decision to enjoy the journey from saying ‘Yes’ to ‘I do’. You’ll find it easier to love the butterflies, embrace imperfections, and have fun. And seeing your dream wedding come to life will be worth the ups and downs along the way.
